The artificial intelligence developer is pursuing an agreement with Stream Data Centers to operate its own compute infrastructure rather than relying on third party platforms. The deal would allow Anthropic to install either Nvidia GPUs or Google TPUs, which are co-designed with Broadcom, within dedicated facilities to manage its own hardware configurations, chip supply, and operational costs.

Stream Data Centers, majority owned by Apollo Global Management, controlled more than 4 GW of powered land as of 2025. Anthropic is negotiating a lease for up to 1 GW of that capacity, a move that increases the startup's direct control over its AI training environment but shifts more financing and operational risk onto its own balance sheet.
