NEWBig Tech Issues $300 Billion AI Debt Guarantees Off Balance Sheets in 1 Year

Nvidia is providing up to $105 billion in backing for OpenAI's Ohio data center project as part of a broader strategy to support artificial intelligence infrastructure. Several technology companies have used guarantees to secure debt for AI chips and data centers over the preceding months without recording the full exposure on their financial statements. Total commitments reached $300 billion, with Broadcom holding up to $29 billion in exposure for AI racks used by Anthropic and Meta providing roughly $28 billion as a residual-value guarantee for Hyperion.

Wall Street is utilizing the credit strength of these firms to obtain cheaper funding for the global AI build-out. This shift reflects a growing financialization of the industry, allowing tech giants to accelerate infrastructure deployment for partners while maintaining a lower reported debt profile.
