A multi year agreement between GlobalFoundries and Marvell will increase silicon germanium manufacturing capacity at a facility in Burlington, Vermont. The added production focuses on pluggable, near packaged, and co packaged optics to facilitate higher bandwidth interconnects for AI data centers.

GlobalFoundries' current silicon germanium platform supports 200 G per lane connectivity with a roadmap for faster generations. Financial terms of the expansion to increase U.S. based AI networking production were not disclosed.
