Model identifiers for Gemini 3.8 Live and its Extended Thinking variant surfaced in the Google Cloud Platform Console's quota and metrics section. These new versions, which utilize Gemini 3.8 Flash, provide a newer alternative to the Gemini 3.1 Live Preview currently used by developers via API.

The updated listings appear one week after OpenAI released the GPT Live 1 model for API access. Google recently expanded Gemini Live's functionality to include Connector calls and the ability to trigger Deep Research to maintain real-time AI capabilities.
