US Vice President JD Vance criticized Anthropic at the All-In Summit, saying businesses were being denied access to tools to defend against hacking capabilities emerging from its newest AI models. He urged AI developers to stop building dangerous systems or provide defenses against them rather than turn to Washington for regulation.

“So, if you’re going to create Frankenstein, don’t come to the government and say, ‘We need regulation,’” Vance said. He also challenged the idea of creating a global AI governance structure, arguing that developers should give companies the tools to counter the risks.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has called for moderating AI development so safeguards and the ability to control models can keep pace. He has also proposed joint oversight by democratically elected governments. President Donald Trump has rejected calls for a slowdown, citing competition with China, and said existing criminal and regulatory powers over AI companies are sufficient.
