The system began training on August 28 and produced the Millennium Prize result by September 5, demonstrating high-level capability after approximately one week of training. OpenAI established an independent mathematics advisory group to coordinate the review and dissemination of these results to the public. Members, including Edward Witten and Timothy Gowers, are unpaid and have the freedom to offer unrequested advice or make their assessments public. While the group's mandate covers academic standards and communication, it is not responsible for controlling the internal pace of OpenAI's mathematical progress.
