▶Pocket FM launched Sherpa, an artificial intelligence assistant designed to maintain narrative continuity across serialized audio fiction. The system uses a Narrative World Model to track character states and plot dependencies across hundreds of episodes to prevent hallucinations. Pocket FM reports that Sherpa answered 89.8% of 176 cross-chapter questions correctly in internal tests, compared to a 57.4% score for a graph memory baseline.
The tool drove the company's annual recurring revenue from $250 million to $500 million in one year, while annual content output rose from 35,000 hours to 2.5 million hours. More than 550,000 creators use the system, including 300,000 first-time authors. Ten percent of eligible writers on the platform earn more than $200,000 annually, and three writers became millionaires in less than two years.
Sherpa was trained on 5.5 billion hours of playtime and 100 million hours of retention and coin-spend data to optimize pacing and engagement. The system employs specialized agents for planning, feedback, and storyboarding to decompose a premise into seasons, arcs, and scenes. Content produced with the AI can be localized into seven languages and published directly to the platform's listeners.
