The Financial Times reported that Chinese artificial intelligence startup Moonshot is preparing to unveil Kimi K3 as early as July 16. The company’s new open-weight model will feature between 2T and 3T parameters, making it the largest artificial intelligence model released by a Chinese firm to date.

Benchmark expectations suggest the model will outperform Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.8 but fall short of Fable 5. The FT noted that Moonshot is currently raising new capital at a valuation around $31.5 billion. While the startup has been teasing the release, the report clarified that a launch on the scheduled day has not been confirmed.
