The ranking member of the US House Select Committee on China has called for an international pact to slow the development of the most advanced artificial intelligence. Representative Ro Khanna wrote to the CEOs of Alibaba, DeepSeek, and Moonshot asking for cooperation in an effort to pace frontier systems to prevent misalignment or a loss of control across borders.

Khanna will host an emergency hearing on global AI pacing policy next Wednesday to address these risks. This diplomatic outreach coincides with an announcement that OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google have spent several weeks coordinating on AI safety and auditing standards for their models to prevent potential systemic dangers.
