Google's parent company signed an agreement to increase electrical output at two nuclear facilities in Georgia to meet rising energy needs from data centers. The funding supports a capacity expansion of about 96 megawatts at the Vogtle and Hatch plants operated by a Southern Company subsidiary.

Georgia Power expects the arrangement to generate $900 million in lifetime customer benefits. This funding structure marks a shift as large cloud providers begin paying for the power capacity they need for AI workloads rather than relying solely on utility providers.
