Payment capabilities for autonomous software agents now include the Cardano blockchain, allowing them to settle service fees using ADA. Through the x402 kit from Coinbase, AI agents can pay for APIs and online services over HTTP without requiring traditional accounts, credit cards, or API keys. This integration places Cardano alongside Solana and the XRP Ledger in a machine-to-machine payment ecosystem.

Coinbase has also updated its 'Coinbase for Agents' tool to enable agents to trade more than 6,000 stocks in addition to cryptocurrencies and derivatives. These agents can use x402 payments to purchase live market data mid-task using a user's USDC balance, eliminating the need for subscriptions. These payment features are available only to users in the US.
