These consultations precede a summit between President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping in Washington on September 24. US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer is attending the session, which occurs during a trade delegation visit led by He Lifeng from September 19 to 23.

President Trump plans to welcome President Xi at Joint Base Andrews for a 3 day state visit that includes a state dinner where both leaders will deliver remarks. Current agenda items include potential tariff reductions on US liquefied natural gas (LNG) and an effort to prevent the bifurcation of the two nations' AI systems.
