NEWG5 Labs Raises $14 Million Seed for MIT CSAIL AI Software Spinout

Pillar VC and Battery Ventures co-led a funding round for G5 Labs to develop a new abstraction layer for AI-native software development. Omega VP, Encoded Ventures, and angel investors including Jeff Dean also participated in the investment for the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory spinout. The platform treats natural-language intent, organized as an ontology, as the source code itself.

The $14 million seed round allows G5 Labs to build tools that let non-technical employees, such as analysts and compliance leads, create software using their own language. The company provides governance features to keep requirements and organizational policies aligned with the resulting implementation in what it calls a post-developer era.
