ByteDance founder Zhang Yiming's net worth grew by $12 billion this month to over $105 billion, placing him at the top of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. The ranking shift occurred after a revision of the private company's valuation using filings from BlackRock and Fidelity, which reduced the applicable risk discount from 25% to 10% following a resolution regarding TikTok's US operations via an Oracle and Silver Lake joint venture.

Zhang’s fortune has increased more than 8 times since 2019 when his wealth was measured at $13 billion. The 43 year old is the first individual from a background in algorithms and AI to hold the title of Asia's richest person, a position previously dominated by energy and retail executives. Investor interest also followed the development of ByteDance AI products, including the Doubao chatbot and the Seedance video generation model.
