Solidigm Pursues First US NAND Fab to Meet AI Server Demand↩︎

The NAND memory subsidiary of SK Hynix is evaluating a site on the US East Coast for its first mass production line. Solidigm is determining the product mix and investment timing to provide high-capacity storage for AI servers used by American big tech companies. The firm currently operates no production bases in the US, maintaining only its headquarters and a research and development center.

Solidigm was established following a $9 billion acquisition of Intel's NAND flash business in 2021. The move coincides with demand for quad level cell (QLC) NAND for high-capacity SSDs required by AI platforms like Nvidia's Blackwell and Vera Rubin. NAND revenue for SK Hynix reached $14.27 billion in the second quarter of 2026, an 89.5% increase from the previous quarter. The company is preparing an initial public offering on the Nasdaq, though a Solidigm official said the company is reviewing various options to strengthen competitiveness and has not finalized any specific plans.
