1 story1 Hawley and Blumenthal Demand Floor Vote on Bipartisan FRONTIER AI Act↩︎ AI Sep 16, 9:24 AM EDT 16/13
Senators Josh Hawley and Richard Blumenthal sent letters to Senate and House leadership urging a floor vote on the Artificial Intelligence Risk Evaluation Act. The proposal, also known as the FRONTIER Act, establishes a federal framework for managing the risks associated with advanced AI models. Representative Ted Lieu also called for a committee vote on the legislation to advance the regulatory process.
The bipartisan effort includes Republican Senator John Curtis, who stated that congressional representatives must be well informed on cutting edge AI development. Hawley and Blumenthal wrote that "frontier AI demands frontier legislation" and that the American public deserves a formal response from Congress to handle the capabilities of frontier models.
