Anthropic is consolidating its chatbot and long-form task interfaces into a single product that automatically determines whether a prompt requires a quick answer or deeper agentic work. The update, which rolls out to Pro and Max subscribers over the next few weeks, removes the need for users to choose between separate Chat and Cowork modes. This unified experience integrates Claude Design, Docs, and Slides directly into the conversation, allowing users to create prototypes, documents, and presentation decks in one place.

The new Docs and Slides tools are in beta for all paid plans and support direct exports to Microsoft Word, Google Docs, PowerPoint, and PDF. Users can edit generated content manually or provide comments for the AI to refine specific elements. Existing Cowork data, including projects, artifacts, and connectors, remains accessible in the new combined interface.
