OpenAI has joined a Nvidia and Microsoft-backed letter to regulators supporting open AI models, with the company now listed on the Microsoft-hosted signatory page for the effort.

The addition broadens support for the letter, which Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang earlier shared as a statement on why open models matter. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said he wants the US to win in AI in both open source and proprietary models and was glad to see the effort.
