Daily active users for Meta's Muse agent reached 642,000 during its initial launch phase, nearly triple the 231,000 recorded by ChatGPT in the same period. The agent recorded 1.8 million downloads in its first 12 days, surpassing the 1.3 million downloads ChatGPT saw at launch. These figures, from Apptopia, coincided with a rally that pushed Meta shares up more than 10% on Sept. 21, marking the company's strongest daily performance in more than 12 months.

Chipmakers Arm, Intel, and AMD saw shares climb 16%, 13%, and 10% respectively following expectations for higher CPU demand sparked by AI agents. Agent systems require more CPU cores for asynchronous tasks like browsing and spreadsheets and use more than 15 times as many tokens as human users. A 1 gigawatt data center now needs 120 million CPU cores to support AI agents, compared to 30 million for previous workloads.
